THE STORY
Benirrás Beach Club brings together the musical worlds of Jay Benirrás and Matt Capone, two DJs and producers connected by a shared love of Balearic culture and the music that surrounds it. Drawing on soulful house, disco, laid-back electronica and the eclectic spirit of Balearic music, the project moves freely between tempos and genres while retaining a common identity built around atmosphere, emotion and groove.
Jay Benirrás (Jason Hayward) is an experienced DJ and producer whose Balearic-inspired sound is rooted in rhythm and atmosphere. Drawing on his background as a professional drummer, his music blends beach house and Balearic grooves with an instinctive feel for musical flow.
Founder of the original Benirrás Beach Club brand, Jay developed its signature sun-drenched sound through carefully curated mixes and a deep connection to Ibiza’s musical heritage.
As one half of the Benirrás Beach Club production duo, he brings a distinctive rhythmic identity and an emphasis on atmosphere, emotion and storytelling.
Matt Capone is an internationally experienced DJ, songwriter and producer with over 20 years behind the decks. Performing across the UK, Ibiza and Italy, his musical roots lie in funky house, soulful disco and the Balearic sounds shaped by his time on the island.
His career has included residencies in Ibiza and the Italian Alps, alongside appearances with names including Paul Wilkins (HedKandi), Vicky Devine (Ushuaïa, Judgement Sundays) and Ray Davies (Ibiza Euphoria).
As one half of Benirrás Beach Club, Matt brings those influences into the writing and production process, combining an instinct for the dancefloor with a strong focus on melody, lyrics and contemporary Balearic sound.
THE DEBUT
Benirrás Beach Club made their recording debut in August 2026 with Garlands (Made Us Do It), featuring Tommy Jules and released through Salt & Sand Records.
Rooted in the duo’s Balearic and soulful house influences, the release brought together the original Beach Club production with remixes from Richard Earnshaw and SILAS (UK), creating a package that quickly found support across radio, clubs and specialist house music circles.
Garlands received repeat BBC Introducing broadcasts alongside support from HedKandi Radio, Mi-Soul, StoneBridge Essential House and Colleen ‘Cosmo’ Murphy, who also played the track live on the Glitterbox stage at Electric Paradise Festival. International support followed, with Crystal Waters selecting the SILAS (UK) Dig Deep Extended Remix for I Am House Radio.
Editorial coverage from DJ Life Magazine and Soul & Jazz & Funk further marked the arrival of the project and its first release.
